Start
with a new image (Ctrl+N)
of any size. I used 100 x
100. Fill the background
with any color. I used a
neutral gray.
>>
Step 2
Create
a new layer (Shft+Ctrl+N)
and call it 'cover'. Fill
the 'bump' layer with any
color. I used white.
>>
Step 3
In
the 'cover' layer, select
the area that will be the
shape of your button.
Save your selection. My
button will be circular.
>>
Step 4
Create
a new layer called
'buttonup'. Draw your
button in that layer. Be
sure it is the same shape
as the selection you
made.
>>
Step 5
Load
the selection you saved.
Select the 'cover' layer.
Delete the selection from
'cover'. Apply a drop
shadow. I used a distance
of 6 and a blur of 5.
>>
Step 6
Duplicate
the 'buttonup' layer and
name the copy
'buttondown'. Order the
layers so that 'buttonup'
is on top of 'cover' and
'buttondown' is under
'cover'.
>>
Step 7
Nudge
the 'buttondown' layer
one pixel down and one
pixel right.
>>
Step 8
You
should now be able to see
the push button effect as
you toggle the visibility
on 'buttonup'.
