On
a new 100 x 100 canvas,
select a rectangle of 100
x 25 at the top. Fill it
with a black-white-black
gradient. The gradient
percentage should be
0%-25%-100%.

Go
to Image>>
Adjust>>
Brightness/Contrast. Set
the brightness to 25 and
the contrast to -25. Then
press Ctrl+U and make the
lightness 25.

Step 3
Use
the eye-dropper tool and
select the color that is
on the last row of
pixels.

Step 4
With
the color selected, fill
a rectangle of 100 x 60
with that color right
beneath the first
rectangle.

Step 5
Select
a rectangle of 100 x 20
at the bottom and fill it
with a grey-black
gradient. The grey should
be the selected color.

Step 6
Press
Ctrl+U again. Make the
lightness 25. Press
Image>>
Adjust>>
Brightness/Contrast. Make
the brightness 25.

Step 7
Create
a new layer on top and
name it
"Rivets". For
each rivet, draw a black
pixel on top and a white
pixel directly underneath
it. Duplicate this effect
to create a riveted
surface.

To
make the rivets softer,
change the layer blending
mode to "Soft
Light".
