Metal and Rivets
>> Step 1
On a new 100 x 100 canvas, select a rectangle of 100 x 25 at the top. Fill it with a black-white-black gradient. The gradient percentage should be 0%-25%-100%.
>> Step 2
Go to Image>> Adjust>> Brightness/Contrast. Set the brightness to 25 and the contrast to -25. Then press Ctrl+U and make the lightness 25.
>> Step 3
Use the eye-dropper tool and select the color that is on the last row of pixels.
>> Step 4
With the color selected, fill a rectangle of 100 x 60 with that color right beneath the first rectangle.
>> Step 5
Select a rectangle of 100 x 20 at the bottom and fill it with a grey-black gradient. The grey should be the selected color.
>> Step 6
Press Ctrl+U again. Make the lightness 25. Press Image>> Adjust>> Brightness/Contrast. Make the brightness 25.
>> Step 7
Create a new layer on top and name it "Rivets". For each rivet, draw a black pixel on top and a white pixel directly underneath it. Duplicate this effect to create a riveted surface.
>> Step 8
To make the rivets softer, change the layer blending mode to "Soft Light".
