Start
with a new image (Ctrl+N)
of any size. I used 100 x
100. Fill the background
with any color. I used a
neutral gray.
>>
Step 2
Create
a new layer (Shft+Ctrl+N)
and call it 'edges'. Use
the rectangular marquee
tool to select two areas
of 10 x 40.
>>
Step 3
Select
the 'edges' layer. Use
the linear gradient tool
to fill the selection. I
used black-white-black at
0%-25%-100%.
>>
Step 4
Create
another layer and call it
'glass'. Use the
rectangular marquee to
select the area between
the two metal edges.
>>
Step 5
Select
the 'glass' layer and use
the line tool. Draw 3
lines on top, 5 lines in
the upper middle, and 8
lines on the bottom. For
each line you draw, use
the color on the same
line of the metal edge.
>>
Step 6
Go
to Filter>>
Blur>> Gaussian
Blur. Choose a radius of
2 pixels. And there's
your fuse! If you put
some text underneath the
glass, you will see that
the transparency is very
realistic.
