Step 1 |
 |
Start
with a new image (Ctrl+N)
of any size. I used 100 x
100. Fill the background
with any color. I used a
neutral gray. |
|
| >>
Step 2 |
 |
Create
a new layer (Shft+Ctrl+N)
and call it 'base'. In
'base', make a selection
of about 50 x 50. Fill
this selection with any
color. It is most
effective when a color of
brightness 50% is used. |
|
| >>
Step 3 |
 |
Go
to Layer>> Layer
Style>> Inner
Shadow. Create an inner
shadow. I used these
settings:
| Mode:
Multiply |
| Opacity:
75% |
| Angle:
90º |
| Distance:
5 |
| Choke:
0 |
| Size:
10 |
Create
a new layer and merge it
with 'base'.
|
|
| >>
Step 4 |
 |
Create
a new layer called
'glow'. Use the 50 x 50
'base' layer selection
(Ctrl+Click). Draw about
10 to 20 lines of white
at the bottom of this
selection on the 'glow'
layer. Do not deselect!
Go to Filter>>
Blur>> Gaussian
Blur. Use a radius of 5.
Adjust the blending mode
for 'glow' to Overlay. |
|
| >>
Step 5 |
 |
Create
a new layer (Shft+Ctrl+N)
and call it 'highlight'.
Again, use the 50 x 50
selection from 'base'
(Ctrl+Click). On the
'highlight' layer, draw
about 5 white lines at
the top. Without
deselecting, make a
Gaussian Blur of 3. |
|
| >>
Step 6 |
 |
Create
another layer called
'linelight'. Draw one
white line so that it is
in the middle the
'highlight' region. Using
the 'base' layer
selection (Ctrl+Click),
use a Gaussian Blur of
about 0.3. |
|
| >>
Step 7 |
 |
Making
sure that 'base' is at
the bottom, merge these 4
layers: 'base', 'glow',
'highlight', and
'linelight'. Add an inner
bevel to this composite
layer, using these
settings:
| Technique:
Smooth |
| Depth:
100% |
| Direction:
Down |
| Size:
100 |
| Soften:
15 |
| Angle:
95º |
| Altitude:
45º |
|
|
| >>
Step 8 |
 |
Create
a blank layer and merge
with the composite layer.
All done. To add more
depth to the button, add
an outer bevel. |
