Chrome
>> Step 1
Start with a new image (Ctrl+N) of any size. I used 100 x 100. Fill the background with any color. I used a neutral gray.
>> Step 2
Create a new layer (Shft+Ctrl+N) and call it 'bump'. Fill the 'bump' layer with black.
>> Step 3
In the 'bump' layer, draw the picture that you want in chrome, with white. Make sure you save the selection of this picture.
>> Step 4
De-select the selection. Go to the 'Channels' tab. Right click on the 'Blue' channel and duplicate it. Name this copy 'bump'.
>> Step 5
Create a new layer (Shft+Ctrl+N) and call it 'chrome'. Select this layer and fill it all with white.
>> Step 6
Go to Filter>> Render>> Lighting Effects. Use the following settings:
Intensity: 25
Focus: 75
Gloss: 75
Material: 100
Exposure: 0
Ambience: 0
>> Step 7
Don't click OK yet. Go down to the texture channel menu and open it up. Choose 'bump'. Set the height to 25. Now click OK.
>> Step 8
Remember that selection I told you to save? Well, load it, invert the selection (Shft+Ctrl+I), and press delete.
>> Step 9
Go to Image>> Adjust>> Curves. Shape the curve so that the curve looks something like this.
>> Step 10
You should get something like this: slick chrome. I added a little outer glow to better outline the 'F'.
